Class 2 consists of Y4 and Y5 children.
Our aim is to nurture the children, in our care, to be adaptable, diligent, creative, self-motivated and thoughtful learners through a rich, varied and exciting curriculum.
We want the children to enjoy school and look forward to the inspiring opportunities each day offers.
This Spring term, Y4 children are swimming every Monday. PE will continue on a Tuesday (but there could be extra sessions at any time so they need to keep their kit in school and ensure they have warm clothes for outside). Please check your child has the appropriate kit for both of these sessions. Swimming monies need to be paid via ParentPay.
We are also working towards our performance 'World of Wonder' at the end of this term so please help your child learn any lines or songs which are sent home.  Details about the performance will follow shortly. Thank you.
The children will be given maths and English tasks on a Friday, to be handed in by the following Wednesday. These can be found in the green book they bring home. Please encourage your child to write neatly, using joined handwriting where possible, and using a sharp pencil.  This term, your child may well be bringing home song words and lines to learn for the end of term play.  At some point, a note will also be sent out about sourcing costumes for the performance.  This will be done once the children know their roles.
Your child will need to read at least twice a week to an adult at home and have their Reading Record signed. Any notes from staff will also go in the Reading Record so it is worth checking this daily. Any changes to your child's AR level can be found at the front of this book.
You will find your child's spelling list for the Spring term on this page and they will need to keep practicing these at home. Spellings will be learned through daily activities and investigations in class.
Learning times table facts is vital and children should be able to recite their table facts up to 12 x 12 by the end of Y4. Therefore, it is really important that whenever you get a few minutes you keep encouraging them to revisit these so they can automatically recall the facts without having to use fingers or apparatus. The more your child practices the easier they will find calculations at school and out in the real world.
